Wildcats Regroup to Host the Rifles

The Edmonton Wildcats host their third home game of the season against the Winnipeg Rifles at Clarke Park on Sunday September 6th at 12:00 pm. The Wildcats are coming off a disappointing loss in Calgary and are out to right the ship and get back to their winning ways after losing their last 2 games. The Rifles on the other hand are coming off a close loss in Winnipeg to the Hilltops and will be looking to continue there strong play heading into this weekends matchup against the Wildcats.

The offence led by Andy Pilon will also be looking to continue their success against the Rifles after a strong outing in the matchup in Winnipeg earlier in the 2009 campaign, utilizing their key receiving corp of Kevin Wuthrich, Mike Wojcicki and Jerit Lambert, who have combined for 7 TDs in their first 3 games.

The Wildcats on defense are getting strong play from Matt Lalande and Mike Podloski along with Corbin Sharun anchoring the secondary. Sharun led the team in defense points last weekend in Calgary with 15, followed closely by Matt Lalande and Mike Podloski with 13 and 11 points respectively. They will be key factors in the upcoming contest against the Rifles this weekend.

Next weekend sees the Wildcats on a bye week and will take on their cross town rivals, the Edmonton Huskies on Saturday September 19th 7:00pm at Clarke Park.

All Edmonton Wildcat practices are at Rundle Park and the players take to the field at around 7:30 pm nightly.
