It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barry Kowalski on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the age of 69 years.

Barry is survived by his loving wife, Lorene; children, Errol Oliver, Shannon Oliver (James Hanson); granddaughter, Aria Hanson; mother, Eleanor; brother, Kevin (Roseann); nephew, Kyle; and niece, Shandel. He was predeceased by his father, Stan.

Barry was involved with the Edmonton Wildcats for over two decades. Serving primarily as the team’s president and general manager.

He was named a life member of the Canadian Junior Football League in 2004

Barry will be remembered as a man who carried both strength and tenderness in equal measure. Stubborn and proud, he stood firmly by what he believed in, yet beneath that strong exterior was a heart of gold. He had a wonderfully unique sense of humour that could catch you off guard and leave you laughing long after the moment had passed. Those who knew him understood that his quiet kindness and genuine goodness were at the centre of who he was. Barry was, simply, a good man — and his passing leaves a space that came far too soon for those who loved him.
