Week 9 Game Summary

The Edmonton Wildcats closed out the regular season with a 35–31 win over the Edmonton Huskies in a game that came down to the final seconds.

The Wildcats opened the scoring less than a minute into the game. After a strong kickoff return and 30 yards in Huskies penalties put Edmonton on the one-yard line, Carson Elkew ran it in for the touchdown. The Huskies responded with a five-yard rushing touchdown before conceding a safety. A seven-yard Huskies rushing touchdown gave them a 14–9 lead after the opening quarter.

Edmonton took the lead in the second quarter. Darien Currie scored on a 10-yard rushing touchdown before Wani Lako added a 22-yard touchdown reception. The Huskies answered with a 13-yard touchdown pass, sending the Wildcats into halftime up 23–21.

The Huskies scored the only points of the third quarter on a 63-yard touchdown pass, taking a 28–23 lead into the fourth.

Edmonton added a safety early in the fourth before Sam Bowen connected on a 27-yard field goal to tie the game at 28. The Huskies responded with a 47-yard field goal to regain the lead. With 18 seconds remaining, Currie scored his second touchdown of the night on a 10-yard run, giving the Wildcats the 35–31 victory.

The Wildcats finished with 320 yards of net offence, including 152 rushing and 209 passing, compared to 412 yards of net offence for the Huskies. Edmonton did not throw an interception but lost two fumbles, while the Huskies finished without a turnover. The Wildcats were penalized seven times for 65 yards compared to 17 penalties for 188 yards by the Huskies.

Currie led the ground game with 23 carries for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Taishaun Okorodudu led the Wildcats in receiving with seven catches for 83 yards, while Lako added three catches for 55 yards and a touchdown.

Quarterback Marcos Soltero completed 14 of 25 passes for 191 yards.

Bowen connected on his only field-goal attempt from 27 yards.

Defensively, Adam Bangura and Declan Schlecht led the Wildcats with 13 defensive points each. Bangura recorded five tackles, a quarterback sack and a tackle for loss, while Schlecht finished with five tackles, one assist and one special-teams tackle. Sairus Riley-Wilson followed with 12 defensive points, recording three tackles, one assist, two special-teams tackles and half a tackle for loss.

Week 8 Game Summary

The Edmonton Wildcats fell 25–15 to the Winnipeg Rifles on Sunday afternoon.

The Rifles opened the scoring in the first quarter with an eight-yard touchdown pass. Kicker Sam Bowen answered with a 35-yard field goal, giving Winnipeg a 7–3 lead after the opening quarter.

Winnipeg added to its lead in the second with a 13-yard rushing touchdown, sending the Rifles into halftime up 14–3.

The Rifles added a single off a 63-yard punt in the third quarter before adding a 10-yard touchdown pass, taking a 22–3 lead into the fourth.

Edmonton added 10 points in the final quarter. Carson Elkew scored on a one-yard rushing touchdown, followed by a successful convert, before Bowen connected on a 33-yard field goal. The Rifles added a 23-yard field goal to make the final 25–13.

The Wildcats finished with 417 yards of net offence, including 104 rushing and 320 passing, compared to 374 yards of total offence for the Rifles. Edmonton threw four interceptions compared to one by Winnipeg and finished with 12 penalties for 127 yards, while the Rifles had five penalties for 25 yards.

Darien Currie led the ground game with 14 carries for 73 yards. Taishaun Okorodudu led the Wildcats in receiving with 76 yards.

Quarterback Marcos Soltero completed 25 of 38 passes for 313 yards and threw three interceptions. Joel Whiting completed one of three passes and threw one interception.

Bowen finished a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals, connecting from 35 and 33 yards.

Defensively, Sairus Riley-Wilson led the way with 12 defensive points, recording five tackles and two assists. Aidan Bonnet followed with four tackles and two assists.

Week 7 Game Summary

The Edmonton Wildcats picked up a 33–13 win over the Calgary Colts at home on Saturday night.

The Wildcats opened the scoring in the first quarter when the Colts conceded a safety. Calgary answered with a field goal, giving the Colts a 3–2 lead after the opening quarter.

The Wildcats regained the lead in the second, with kicker Sam Bowen connecting on field goals from 34 and 21 yards to send Edmonton into halftime up 8–3.

Edmonton broke the game open in the third quarter. Wani Lako hauled in a 14-yard touchdown pass before Darien Currie added a 16-yard rushing touchdown. A 70-yard kickoff through the end zone added a single, and Bowen connected on his third field goal of the night from 23 yards to give the Wildcats a 26–3 lead heading into the fourth.

The Colts added nine points in the final quarter with a safety, a six-yard rushing touchdown and a single off a missed field goal. The Wildcats added another touchdown of their own, with Lako catching his second of the night on a five-yard pass to make the final 33–13.

The Wildcats finished with 497 yards of net offence, including 265 rushing and 234 passing, while holding Calgary to 195 net yards. Edmonton threw one interception, while the Colts finished without one.

Darien Currie led the ground game with an impressive 35 carries for 219 yards. Vincent Horn led the Wildcats in receiving with 63 yards, catching all four of his targets.

Bowen finished a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals and added five punts for 192 yards.

Defensively, Eric Butler led the way with four tackles and one knockdown. Sincere Ollivierre followed with three tackles, one tackle for loss and one knockdown.

Week 6 Game Summary

The Wildcats returned from the bye week Sunday to take on the Calgary Colts, falling 30-12 despite finishing with 362 yards of net offense.

Edmonton got on the board first when a Calgary fumble went through the end zone for a safety, giving the Wildcats an early 2-0 lead.

The Colts responded with a 15-yard fumble return for a touchdown to take a 7-2 lead into the end of the first quarter.

Calgary extended its lead in the second quarter with a 29-yard touchdown pass. Sam Bowen put another three points on the board for Edmonton with a 30-yard field goal, but the Colts answered with field goals from 44 and 12 yards to take a 20-5 lead into halftime.

The Wildcats found the end zone in the third quarter when Landon Erick recovered a fumble and returned it one yard for a touchdown, cutting the Calgary lead to 20-12.

The Colts answered with a 15-yard rushing touchdown to extend their lead to 27-12 heading into the fourth quarter.

Calgary added a 33-yard field goal in the fourth for the final points of the game, giving the Colts a 30-12 win.

The Wildcats finished with 362 yards of net offense compared to Calgary’s 393. Edmonton played a clean game through the air with no interceptions, while the Wildcats defence picked off the Colts once.

Darien Currie led the Wildcats on the ground with 17 carries for 137 yards. Taishaun Okorodudu led Edmonton’s receivers with 73 yards, while quarterback Marcos Soltero completed 19 of 29 passes for 201 yards.

Defensively, Kyle Soetaert led the Wildcats with 16 defensive points. Nathan Sanheim and Ethan Speedy followed with 14 defensive points each.

The Wildcats move to 2-3 on the season.

Week 5 – Bye Week

Week 4 Game Summary

The Wildcats faced the Saskatoon Hilltops for the second time this season in Week 4, this time at home. After defeating Saskatoon 28-22 earlier in the season, the Wildcats found themselves in another close battle with the defending national champions, falling 17-13 after the Hilltops took the lead late in the fourth quarter.

The game got off to an unusual start, with the Wildcats conceding a safety just over a minute into the first quarter to give Saskatoon an early 2-0 lead.

Edmonton responded with a 29-yard field goal from Sam Bowen to move ahead 3-2. A bad snap on a Hilltops punt then gave the Wildcats excellent field position, and Darien Currie rushed into the end zone to extend Edmonton’s lead.

The Hilltops chipped away at the lead in the second quarter, connecting on field goals from 31 and 23 yards. The Wildcats remained in front heading into halftime.

Saskatoon added another two points on a safety in the third quarter before Bowen connected on a 32-yard field goal for the Wildcats, sending the game into the fourth quarter with Edmonton holding a 13-10 lead.

The Hilltops tied the game with a 25-yard field goal in the fourth. A 44-yard Saskatoon punt then went through the Wildcats’ end zone for a single point, giving the Hilltops a 14-13 lead.

With 50 seconds remaining, Saskatoon added a 24-yard field goal to extend the lead to 17-13. The Wildcats were unable to answer in the closing seconds, giving the Hilltops the win and splitting the season series between the two teams.

Edmonton finished the game with 235 yards of net offense, including 115 yards on the ground and 152 through the air. Saskatoon recorded 413 yards of net offense, with 157 rushing and 294 passing. Both teams threw one interception.

Quarterback Marcos Soltero completed 15 of 27 passes for 152 yards. Carson Elkew led the Wildcats with 43 yards, followed by Gabe Hiebert with 35. Currie carried the ball 15 times for 24 yards and scored the only touchdown in this game.

Defensively, Aidan Bonnet led the Wildcats with 17 defensive points, recording eight tackles, one assist and one tackle for loss. Eric Butler followed with 12 defensive points on four tackles, one tackle for loss and two pass knockdowns.

The Wildcats head into the bye week with a 2-2 record.

Week 3 Game Summary

The Wildcats returned home in Week 3 looking to build on their statement win over the defending national champions. They did exactly that, putting together a dominant performance against the Edmonton Huskies to earn a 42-13 victory.

The Wildcats opened the scoring in the first quarter after recovering a Huskies fumble. Sam Bowen then connected on an 18-yard field goal to give Edmonton an early 3-0 lead.

The second quarter saw the Wildcats take control.

The Huskies added a safety and a 13-yard field goal to take a brief 5-3 lead, but the Wildcats quickly responded. Marcos Soltero connected with Taishaun Okorodudu on a six-yard touchdown pass to put Edmonton back in front.

Darien Currie added a three-yard rushing touchdown, extending the Wildcats’ lead to 17-5. The defense then came up with another big play, as Nathan Sanheim intercepted the Huskies, setting up a 21-yard touchdown pass from Soltero to Jacob St. Hilaire.

The Wildcats headed into halftime with a commanding 26-5 lead.

Edmonton continued to add to its advantage in the third quarter. Bowen connected on a 12-yard field goal before Soltero found Wani Lako for a 32-yard touchdown, pushing the Wildcats’ lead to 36-5 heading into the final quarter.

The Wildcats missed a 24-yard field goal early in the fourth, but Carson Elkew provided the next big play, breaking loose for a 44-yard rushing touchdown to make it 42-5.

With the game firmly in hand, the Wildcats turned to their backups for the final minutes. The Huskies managed to find the end zone with less than a minute remaining and converted the two-point attempt, bringing the final score to 42-13.

The Wildcats finished the game with 500 yards of net offense, including 151 rushing yards and 372 passing yards. Soltero completed 27 of 36 passes for 372 yards, with one interception.

Currie led the Wildcats on the ground with 50 yards, followed closely by Elkew with 48 yards. Through the air, Okorodudu led all Wildcats receivers with 113 yards, while Lako added 112 yards.

The Wildcats’ defense also had a strong showing, forcing three Huskies interceptions. Sanheim led the defense with 10 defensive points, recording three tackles and an interception. Defensive back Sincere Ollivierre and linebacker Ethan Speedy also came away with interceptions.

After a statement win over Saskatoon in Week 2, the Wildcats followed it up with another convincing performance, improving to 2-1 on the season.

Week 2 Game Summary

The Wildcats headed into Week 2 looking to bounce back from a tough season opener. What followed was one of the biggest wins in recent Wildcats history.

Facing the #1-ranked Saskatoon Hilltops and defending national champions, the Wildcats battled back from an early 14-point deficit to earn a 28-22 victory.

Saskatoon came out strong, scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 14-0 lead. The Wildcats responded in the second quarter when a Hilltops possession resulted in a safety, putting the first points on the board for Edmonton. Carson Elkew then found the end zone, cutting the deficit to 14-9 heading into halftime.

Elkew struck again early in the third quarter, scoring his second touchdown of the game to give the Wildcats their first lead. Edmonton attempted a two-point conversion but was unsuccessful.

The Hilltops answered with a touchdown of their own before adding a single point on a missed 34-yard field goal. The Wildcats responded with a 17-yard field goal from kicker Sam Bowen, sending the game into the fourth quarter with Saskatoon holding a narrow 22-18 advantage.

Edmonton took control in the fourth.

Bowen connected on another field goal, this time from 27 yards, bringing the Wildcats within a point. The defense held strong, giving the offense an opportunity to take the lead—and Darien Currie delivered. Currie found the end zone to put Edmonton ahead, 28-22.

The Wildcats held on through the final minutes to secure the victory.

Offensively, the Wildcats showed a dramatic improvement from Week 1, recording 22 first downs and 373 yards of net offense, including 176 rushing yards and 218 passing yards. Marcos Soltero completed 22 of 30 passes for the Wildcats, with one interception.

Darien Currie and Jacob Elkew led the offense with 86 yards each, while Ladanian Okorodudu added 66 rushing yards. Bowen was perfect on his two field goal attempts, connecting from 17 and 27 yards.

Defensively, Nathan Sanheim led the Wildcats with six tackles and two assists for 16 defensive points. Aidan Bonnet and Jackson Kendel each recorded an interception.

After a difficult opening week, the Wildcats responded with a statement win on the road moving to 1-1 on the season.

Week 1 Game Summary

The Wildcats opened the 2026 season at home against the Regina Thunder, falling 56-1.

The Wildcats offense struggled to find its rhythm, recording five first downs and 123 yards of net offense, including 66 rushing yards and 81 passing yards. Quarterback Marcos Soltero completed 4 of 12 pass attempts, with one interception. The Wildcats were flagged three times for a total of 15 yards.

Wani Lako led the Wildcats with 42 yards of offense, followed by fifth-year Gabe Hiebert with 32 yards.

The Wildcats’ lone point came on a missed 27-yard field goal that went through the end zone.

Defensively, third-year Nathan Sanheim and fifth-year Aidan Bonnet led the team with seven tackles each. Second-year Kyle Soetaert added three tackles along with four special teams tackles.
