Edmonton Wildcats on a Bye Week
After last weekends shootout with the Winnipeg Rifles the Edmonton Wildcats head into a bye week.
The Wildcats had two Prairie Football Conference Players of the week from this pass weekends matchup with the Winnipeg Rifles.
DEFENSE- MATT LALANDE, LINEBACKER- EDMONTON WILDCATS
In a game that wasn’t a defensive classic as the teams combined for 1,023 yards of total offense, the 3rd year linebacker who played high school Football in Wetaskawin had 10 Defensive Tackles and a Pass Knockdown for 22 DPTS. Lalande was an All-Conference selection in 2008.
SPECIAL TEAMS- BEN HNIDAN, KICKER/PUNTER- EDMONTON WILDCATS
The rookie kicker and PFC leading scorer boosted his season total to 50 points, connecting on 4 of 6 field goal attempts in the Wildcats win over Winnipeg. Hnidan also added 2 85-yard kickoff singles. Hnidan has made 9 of 13 attempts on the year and has gone a perfect 19 of 19 on converts.
On Wednesday of this week the Wildcats held their traditional annual High School Jersey Night Practice, where all players practice in their old High School Jerseys which made for some spirited competiton and fun throughout the event.
Next weekend sees the Wildcats taking on their cross town rivals, the Edmonton Huskies on Saturday September 19th 7:00pm at Clarke Park.
All Edmonton Wildcat practices are at Rundle Park and the players take to the field at around 7:30 pm nightly.
