Wildcats Host Football Theme Week with Boys & Girls Club

This past week ago Friday 19 of the Edmonton Wildcats hosted a mini skills session at their Club house with 15 kids from the Rundle Boys & Girls Club. It was football Theme week for the facility with a perfect afternoon set up for the kids as the Wildcats put them through some drills with passing, kicking, running and tackling routines, finishing it off with an obstacle course competition at the end of the day.

A couple of players spoke about their careers on how they started playing, what keeps them motivated, what is important to them about being part of a team and most importantly their education and how football has help them achieve their goals. Both the players and the kids had a great time and bonded with each other immediately.

The kids came away from this experience with a renewed sense of optimism for their futures and a few have already come back down to the football field during the week to watch the Wildcat practice. The players came away with a sense of pride with being able to contribute and to help support the Boys and Girls Club and their community.

Reading week for the Rundle Boys & Girls club will be starts up next month and the support workers have requested a couple of Wildcat players attended a reading session to read stories to the kids during this. Stay tuned for that stories later next month.
