Edmonton Wildcats Prepare for Winnipeg Rifles

The Edmonton Wildcats travel to Winnipeg this weekend to take on the Winnipeg Rifles on Saturday August 15th 12:00pm at Canad Inn Stadium. A win on Saturday will keep them atop the PFC conference and a strong start to the season.

After putting away the Calgary Colts 35 – 21 in last weekend’s season opener at Clarke Park, the Wildcats are looking to continue their success in Winnipeg.

The defense looked very strong in that contest holding the Colts to only 7 points in the second half.

On offense the Wildcats started to jell showing some consistency especially in the second half, putting together some key drives. Special teams dominated in that game and as a result, one of our players received special team’s player of the week.

Special Teams Player of the Week
David Berg –Return Specialist – Edmonton Wildcats

David Berg ran a 67 yd punt return back for a touchdown in last weekend’s contest against the Calgary Colts. A special note saw David run 2 more punt returns back for touchdowns of 50 and 100yds only to be called back on penalties. David had 6 punt returns for 111yds on the day and 2 kick off returns for 50 yds.

Next game sees the Wildcats at home, taking on the Saskatoon Hilltops, Saturday August 22nd 7:00pm at Clarke Park

All Edmonton Wildcat practices are at Rundle Park and the players take to the field at around 7:30 pm nightly.
