Edmonton Wildcats Defeat Cross-Town Rivals 35-33
The Edmonton Wildcats celebrated a 35-33 victory over the Edmonton Huskies tonight at Clarke Stadium.
The Huskies took the lead in the first quarter with a touchdown with only 1:38 left, bringing the score to 7-0. The Wildcats made a comeback in the second quarter with an Olson to Olson pass, tying the game with 5:09 left. The Huskies reciprocated with a touchdown, followed by a field goal with only 0:10 left in the first half, bringing the Huskies to a lead of 17-7.
Wildcat Armand Katamba ran one in with 9:45 left in the 3rd, narrowing the Husky lead to 17-14. With only 2:52 left in the 3rd, the Huskies had another touchdown, increasing their lead to 24-14. The 4th quarter was busy, with 4 touchdowns. Wildcat Quarterback Jordan Olson threw one to Schultenkamper with 11:59 left, making it 24-21 for the Huskies. Shortly after, Bray Josue had a 51 yard run, giving the Wildcats the lead of 28-24 with 8:21 left. The Huskies reciprocated shortly after with a touchdown, followed almost immediately by another Bray Josue touchdown, giving the Wildcats a 35-31 lead. The Wildcats conceded a safety, giving a final score of 35-33 for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats offence saw 425 yards, 235 on the ground and 204 in the air.
Bray Josue lead the rushing with 12 carries for 165 years and 2 touchdowns. Pass receiving was led by Brandon Olson, who had 2 catches for 81 yards and 1 touchdown. Quarterback Jordan Olson completed 12 of 24 for 204 yards.
The Wildcats defence was led by Defensive Back James Ens who had 5 tackles, 1 assisted tackle, and 2 pass knock downs for 15 points. Close behind him with 14 points each were Gordon Poliak who had 7 tackles, and Defensive Lineman Evin Kochisarli who had 5 tackles, 2 assisted tackles, and 1 special teams tackle.
The Wildcats are 1-0 heading into their next game at Mosaic Stadium on Sunday, August 23 at 1pm.
