Wildcats Host Rematch With Rifles

The 2-1 Edmonton Wildcats play host to the 0-3 Winnipeg Rifles this Sunday September 9th at Clarke Park start time 12:00pm. The contest is a rematch from the first game of the season that saw the Wildcats come from behind in the second half to win 34-20 in Winnipeg. Both teams are coming off a bye week and will be eager and ready to face each other, while the Rifles will be looking for a little vindication from their defeat in Winnipeg. The Wildcats on the other hand are coming off a lost to the Calgary Colts at home a couple of weeks ago and will be looking to get on track and get back in the win column on Sunday.

Offensively the Wildcats with rookie sensation, Running Back Jordan Samoil who was recently named CJFL offensive player of the week for his 309 yard rushing performance in week 2 against the Edmonton Huskies will be looking for another similar performance this Sunday against the Rifles. Samoil rushed for 3 TD’s in the game against the Rifles in Winnipeg in week 1

Defensively the Cats will be looking for strong outings from DB Adam Laurensse and Riley Aitken on the corners with Ben Garry and Marcus Goods solidifying the d-line. On special teams Tyler Henry is starting to pick up steam on his kick and punt returns racking close to 200 yards in his last game against the Colts.

Next game sees the Wildcats on the road with their next game against the Calgary Colts in a rematch of the battle of Alberta on Sunday September 16th at McMahon Stadium 2:00pm start time..

All Edmonton Wildcat practices are at Rundle Park and the players take to the field at around 7:30 pm nightly.
