Wildcats Defeat Colts 35-24

The Edmonton Wildcats added another Win to their season Sunday afternoon at McMahon Stadium in Calgary!

The Wildcats took an early lead in the first quarter with a Field Goal by Ideen Samadi at the 3:31 mark. Chase Nahrebeski furthered this lead at 12:21 with a Touchdown, giving the Wildcats a 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter started out strong with a Touchdown by Wildcat Levon Hawreliak, three minutes in, bringing the score to 17-0. The Wildcats then got two single points, leaving a score of 19-0 5:57 into the second quarter. The Colts responded at the 7:27 mark when Jeremy Long scored a Touchdown, making it 19-7. At 12:33 into the second, the Colts gave up a safety, giving the Wildcats two points. With 5 seconds left, Chase Nahrebeski got a Touchdown, bringing the first half to a close with a score of 28-7 Wildcats.

The Colts started out the third quarter with another Jeremy Long Touchdown, reducing the Wildcats lead to 28-14. At the 7:00 minute mark, Ideen Samadi got another Field Goal, giving the Wildcats another 3 points. The third quarter ended with Colt Marshal Broom getting a Field Goal, making the score 31-17. Five minutes into the fourth quarter, Ben Hnatiuk got a Touchdown for the Colts, making the score 31-24. With 2:41 left in the game, the Wildcats got a single point, which was followed by an Ideen Samadi Field Goal with 0:56 left in the game, making the final score 35-24 for the Wildcats.

Offensively the Wildcats had 499 total yards, with 273 of then rushing and 226 passing. Quarterback Jordan Olson completed 14 of 24 passing attempts for 226 yards. Running Back Levon Hawreliak had 32 carries for a total of 229 and one Touchdown. Receiver Brad Quartel had 6 catches for 78 yards, and Landyn Vick had 3 catches for 32 yards.

Defensively for the Wildcats, Brett Morrow lead the team with 14 points, consisting of 6 tackles and 2 assisted tackles.

The Wildcats play again Sunday, September 22 against the Winnipeg Rifles at Investors Field in Winnipeg. Game time is 11am (Edmonton time).
