Wildcats Finish Off Season at Home Against Regina

For the second straight year the Edmonton Wildcats will not be heading to the post season as the Regina Thunder officially knocked the Wildcats out of the playoffs after last Sundays 32-19 win over the Calgary Colts at Mosaic Stadium in Regina. For the Wildcats it has been a tough year but the players never gave up in any of the game they played and will want to go out on a winning note this Sunday at Clarke Stadium, game time 1:00pm. For some of the 5th year and graduating players this will be their last game that they ever play, so emotions and intensity will be high.

Offensively the Wildcats had a solid game against the Huskies last weekend with Quarterback Jordan Olson completing 15 of 20 for 334 yds and 5 TD’s. The Cats will need to dominate again this weekend against the Thunder as they did last game against the Huskies with 543 net yards of offensive. Running back Shiane Runcie had 2 TD’s on the ground and 1 in the air and was a big factor in the win last weekend along with Andrew Johnson who had 3 TD catches. This kind of productivity and focus will be needed this week if they want to secure a win against the Thunder. Regina has a very good offense with QB Wyatt Catley throwing 22 of 43 for 354 yds and 2 TD’s in last weekend’s win against Calgary.

Defensively the Cats will need to keep Wyatt Catley and the Thunder’s offense off the field and dominate as they did in Saskatoon, shutting down the running game and air attack. 5th year veteran Steven Giang will be anchoring the line supported by graduating Linebacker Kevin Hanson along with 5th year veterans Miguel Backer and Kris Gibson on the corners..

This will conclude the Wildcats regular season. See you all next year.
