Wildcats-Huskies Rematch in the Battle of Edmonton

The Edmonton Wildcats are playing visitors this weekend at Clarke Stadium, in the rematch of the Black and Blue game against the Huskies, start time 7:00pm. The Wildcats are still mathematically in the hunt for a play off spot and need to win their remaining 2 games and Regina would need to lose their last 2 games, with the Wildcats last game here against Regina, determining who is in and who is out. The Wildcats would need to beat the Regina Thunder by at least 30 points in that contest to secure a playoff berth. The Regina Thunders play the Calgary Colts this Sunday in Regina.

Offensively the Wildcats are starting to gain momentum with Quarterback Jordan Olson. He had a solid game against the Hilltops last weekend throwing 19 of 29 for 186 yds and 1 TD. The Wildcat will need to continue their success on the ground with Taylor Souster in the backfield, who is currently third in rushing in the conference, while utilizing their key receiving corp of Ryan Smith, Tylor Henry and Adam Seniuk.

Defensively the Cats are coming off a dominant performance in Saskatoon and will need to display that same intensity this weekend against the dogs. The Cats held the leading conference rusher in Regan Schuler to under 100 yds on 19 carries while shutting down Chase Bradshaw’s passing game, limiting him to just 151 yds on 6 of 24 attempts. Keaton Hoddinott and Ronald Mawamba both had a strong game against the Hilltops along with Kevin Hanson who is currently 6th in defensive points in the conference. They will need to be solid again as they head into this weekends matchup with their cross town rivals.

Next game sees the Wildcats in their last regular season game at home to face the Regina Thunder at Clarke Stadium, Sunday Oct 9th game time 1:00pm.

All Edmonton Wildcat practices are at Rundle Park and the players take to the field at around 7:30 pm nightly.
