Wildcats vs Huskies Regular Season Finale

The Wildcats are back in Edmonton to face the cross town rival Edmonton Huskies who will host the regular season finale at Clarke Park on Saturday October 3rd 7:00pm. The Wildcats are coming off an impressive win over the Regina Thunder this past weekend and are currently tied with Calgary for second place heading into the last weekend of the regular season.

The offence will be looking to stay on track in the final game and to continue the momentum they have created over the last few weeks heading into the playoffs. Andy Pilon will be calling on receivers Kevin Wuthrich, Mike Wojcicki and Jerit Lambert to carry the aerial attack, with running backs Justin McEvoy and Liam Dow picking up the ground game. Special teams have been a factor with the Wildcats all season and this weekend’s matchup should be no different with the likes of Jerit Lambert and David Berg on Kick-off and Punt returns. Ben Hnidan who leads the conference with 80 points will also be a special team’s force to recon with in this weekends contest.

Mike Podloski is coming off a solid defensive game against the Thunder as he accumulated 16 points with 6 tackles, 5 assists and 1 pass knocked down followed closely by 4 other defensive players, Miguel Barker, Danny Rice, Neil King and Dylan Little, all of which posted 12 points each on defense.

Special Teams Player of the Week
Jerit Lambert has just about done it all this season. Seeing action primarily as a receiver, he’s also seen action at running back, but is one of the best return men in the conference. In Sunday’s 38-18 road win in Regina, he returned a punt 92 yards for a major score, moving into 4th in the PFC in punt return yards with 217, only 39 behind teammate David Berg. Lambert leads the conference in kickoff return yards with 307, 105 of which came on a touchdown run in the Week 1 win over Calgary.

Next game will be determined once the regular season is over and the play off schedule is set for next week.

All Edmonton Wildcat practices are at Rundle Park and the players take to the field at around 7:30 pm nightly.
