Gary Lefebvre Community Service Award Recipient

The 2017 Gary Lefebvre Community Service Award recipient is Bray Josue. This memorial award is awarded to the Wildcat who demonstrates the strongest commitment to giving back to the community. The recipient is also nominated for the PFC Al Park Community Service Award.

Bray joined the Wildcats in 2013 from Holy Rosary High School in Lloydminster. Bray’s high energy and
positive attitude made him a favourite on the team almost instantly. Although he has been a running
back for his entire Wildcat career, Bray has been looked up to by all units, and players both older and
younger than him. In his third season, Bray was invited to join the leadership council, which is a role he
embraced. He was always one of the first to arrive at practice, came to every team event, and was one
of the last out of the locker room at night.

Last year was the first off season that Bray stayed in Edmonton for, and he jumped head first into the
volunteer opportunities that were offered. In the off-season Bray volunteered stocking shelves at the
Edmonton Food Bank, setting up the props for Capital City Gymnastics annual competition, sorting
donations at the Zebra Center, reading to kids at Read-In-Week, helping at the Habitat for Humanity
build site, and reffing the Special Olympics Floor Hockey Tournament.

Bray’s love for football extended into his volunteer experiences, and he took every opportunity he had
to get involved with minor teams/camps. He volunteered as a ref at both the Trinity and the Lazerte
High School football Jamborees. Bray also took leadership of our 5th Annual Big Brothers/Big Sisters Flag
Football Camp, both planning and running the practices and scrimmages. The kids took to Bray right
away and would run over the hill every Tuesday, skidding into the locker room looking for Coach Bray so
they could get started.

When looking for players to participate in our off-field activities, Bray can always be counted on to be
the first person to sign up, and to help build some excitement in the locker room to get others on board.
He shows up to 100% of the activities he signs up for, is always on time, and has one of the most
enthusiastic demeanors to every task given to him we have ever seen (even when it means slugging
through a foot of mud in the rain at a Habitat build site).

Bray’s contribution to our “In the Community” program has been a huge part of its success, and we
know he has a passion for giving back that he will take with him as he takes this next step in his journey.

Congratulations Bray!
