Wildcats Welcome New Equipment Manager

After over a decade as the Equipment Manager, Tom Van Amsterdam has resigned from his role with the Wildcats to spend more time with his family; his enthusiasm and camaraderie with the team will be missed as will be his knowledge of the equipment room . Stepping in as the new Equipment Manager for the 2014 season is Wildcat Alumnus Keegan Sabourin.

Keegan played on the Wildcats Offensive Line for four seasons. He was a Wildcat in 2005, 2007, 2008, and 2009 and took 2006 off to coach with the Salisbury Sabres. Keegan brings with him a wealth of football experience from both his high school and junior careers as well as an understanding of the Wildcat traditions. We are excited to have him back with us for the 2014 season!

Wildcats Announce 2014 Coaching Staff

The coaching staff has been finalized for 2014, and we are very excited to welcome a few new names to the coaching staff.

On the defensive side of the ball, all of the coaches from 2013 are returning. Greg High enters his 14th season as Defensive Coordinator and LB coach. Joining him again this season is Dan Schutte as the Defensive Line Coach, and Len Mora and Nolan Garriock who are working with the Secondary. One addition to the defensive staff is Wildcat Alumnus and current Edmonton Eskimo Ryan King, who is working with the LB’s.

On the offense, both Offensive Coordinator Vince Baraniecz and QB Coach Jason Dailey have moved on to new roles within the Wildcat Organization. 2013 Assistant Head Coach Greg Tyszka has taken over the role as Offensive Coordinator. Tyszka is entering his 15th season coaching with the Wildcats, and has been an integral part of the Offense for many years, making this a seamless transition. Ryan Branting will remain as the receivers coach. Moving back to the offensive side of the ball is Jeff Stead, who will take over as the Quarterback Coach. “Jeff’s experience will have a big impact on the continual growth and development of our QB’s and the offensive in general”, says Head Coach Darcy Park. After spending a season working with the running backs part-time, Jim Nahrebeski will officially take the title of Running Back coach for 2014. New to the offense coaching staff this season is former Wildcat and 2007 PFC lineman of the year Sean Brown.

The complete list of Edmonton Wildcats Coaches for the 2014 season is:

Head Coach – Darcy Park
Offensive Coordinator – Greg Tyszka
Defensive Coordinator – Greg High
Quarterbacks – Jeff Stead
Receivers & Special Teams – Ryan Branting
Running Backs – Jim Nahrebeski
Offensive Line – Sean Brown
Defensive Backs – Nolan Garriock
Defensive Backs – Len Mora
Defensive Line – Dan Schutte
Linebackers – Ryan King

Wildcats welcome Jason Dailey as new General Manager

We are pleased that a long-time Wildcat, and someone who holds the same perspective we enjoyed with Big Al, has been named as the team’s new General Manager. Jason Dailey spent 10 years with the Wildcats as a Coach in various positions. He brings solid business experience and a true appreciation for the Wildcat way to this position. We wish him the best in this new challenge, and are looking forward to another season with him on our team!
