Wildcats Welcome new EE Head Coach

The Edmonton Wildcat Football Club extends welcoming greetings to the new Head Coach of the Edmonton Eskimos, Chris Jones.

The Wildcats look forward to continuing a long-standing close relationship with the Eskimos with Coach Jones. There were three Wildcat alumni on the 2013 Eskimo roster and we look forward to many more over the years.

Coach Jones joins the Green and Gold after spending the last two seasons as the defensive coordinator, assistant head coach and assistant general manager of the Toronto Argonauts. Jones began his college coaching career as a graduate assistant at Tennessee Tech University in 1995 and spent seven years in the NCAA before entering the CFL. He has been to post season in each of his 12 years in the league, including seven division finals and six Grey Cup appearances with Montreal, Calgary and Toronto, winning in 2002, 2008 and 2012.

As an integral partner in Junior Football, the Edmonton Eskimo, whose history parallels that of Junior Football, we encourage all our fans who are existing EE season ticket holders to renew their 2014 season tickets and in doing so help the Eskimo Football Club in their efforts to support Junior Football – and if you are not yet an EE season ticket holder we suggest you become one as this is shaping up to be an exciting 2014 season for football fans in Edmonton and northern Alberta.

Congratulations to the 2013 Wildcat Award Winners

This past weekend was the Wildcats Banquet where our team awards were handed out. The winners were as follows:

Rookie of the Year: Daniel Ellis
Peter Smith: Luke Roberts
Special Teams: Chase Nahrebeski
Most Valuable Linesman: Logan Trachuk
Most Valuable Back: Levon Hawreliak
Jay Meraw: Tony Lawrence and Keaton Hoddinott
Most Valuable Player: Levon Hawreliak

All of these awards were voted on by their peers. “It was a lot of fun going through the ballots”, said Coach Park, “There was no award that was a runaway… All of them had close second and thirds which is great to see. It means that everyone was contributing all year and the players recognize that”.

Also presented at the banquet was the CJFL Lifetime Member award, which was presented by CJFL Commissioner Jim Pankovich to Wildcats General Manager Al Park. This was awarded for Al’s dedication to Junior Football in Canada over the last decade.

Congratulations to the 2013 winners!
