Week 2 Game Summary
The Wildcats headed into Week 2 looking to bounce back from a tough season opener. What followed was one of the biggest wins in recent Wildcats history.
Facing the #1-ranked Saskatoon Hilltops and defending national champions, the Wildcats battled back from an early 14-point deficit to earn a 28-22 victory.
Saskatoon came out strong, scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter to take a 14-0 lead. The Wildcats responded in the second quarter when a Hilltops possession resulted in a safety, putting the first points on the board for Edmonton. Carson Elkew then found the end zone, cutting the deficit to 14-9 heading into halftime.
Elkew struck again early in the third quarter, scoring his second touchdown of the game to give the Wildcats their first lead. Edmonton attempted a two-point conversion but was unsuccessful.
The Hilltops answered with a touchdown of their own before adding a single point on a missed 34-yard field goal. The Wildcats responded with a 17-yard field goal from kicker Sam Bowen, sending the game into the fourth quarter with Saskatoon holding a narrow 22-18 advantage.
Edmonton took control in the fourth.
Bowen connected on another field goal, this time from 27 yards, bringing the Wildcats within a point. The defense held strong, giving the offense an opportunity to take the lead—and Darien Currie delivered. Currie found the end zone to put Edmonton ahead, 28-22.
The Wildcats held on through the final minutes to secure the victory.
Offensively, the Wildcats showed a dramatic improvement from Week 1, recording 22 first downs and 373 yards of net offense, including 176 rushing yards and 218 passing yards. Marcos Soltero completed 22 of 30 passes for the Wildcats, with one interception.
Darien Currie and Jacob Elkew led the offense with 86 yards each, while Ladanian Okorodudu added 66 rushing yards. Bowen was perfect on his two field goal attempts, connecting from 17 and 27 yards.
Defensively, Nathan Sanheim led the Wildcats with six tackles and two assists for 16 defensive points. Aidan Bonnet and Jackson Kendel each recorded an interception.
After a difficult opening week, the Wildcats responded with a statement win on the road moving to 1-1 on the season.

Week 1 Game Summary
The Wildcats opened the 2026 season at home against the Regina Thunder, falling 56-1.
The Wildcats offense struggled to find its rhythm, recording five first downs and 123 yards of net offense, including 66 rushing yards and 81 passing yards. Quarterback Marcos Soltero completed 4 of 12 pass attempts, with one interception. The Wildcats were flagged three times for a total of 15 yards.
Wani Lako led the Wildcats with 42 yards of offense, followed by fifth-year Gabe Hiebert with 32 yards.
The Wildcats’ lone point came on a missed 27-yard field goal that went through the end zone.
Defensively, third-year Nathan Sanheim and fifth-year Aidan Bonnet led the team with seven tackles each. Second-year Kyle Soetaert added three tackles along with four special teams tackles.
